“I am 14 and was referred to SAFE@LAST by the Police through the MISPER scheme after I ran away from home. After I got back home someone from SAFE@LAST rang and asked to come and meet me."
“I ran away from home because I was always rowing with my mum. Since her new boyfriend moved in we haven’t got along and used to have really bad fights. After one of these fights I left the house and stayed with a friend for a couple of nights until her mum asked me to leave. When I met the worker from SAFE@LAST I was still angry and wanted to run away again because I thought that my Mum only had time for her new boyfriend. My project worker met with me regularly and over a few weeks. We went for walks and stuff and I was able to tell her everything that was going on with me. We chatted about the dangers of running away. We also chatted about my mum and how she has needs too. Mum and I get on better now and I haven’t run away since I met my project worker. We don’t meet up anymore but I know I can give them a call if things get bad again."
